It was my first visit to Cambodia. As part of study tour organised by a Japanese NGO, Second Hand, I visited several project sites across the country. Moto Dop occupied the main streets of Phnom Penh. Angkor Wat was already popular but less crowded. There was only one hotel in Svay Rieng. Our NGO helped poor children stop child labour and go to school by building schools in poor communities and providing scholarship. It was a turning point of my life to international development.
